“Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” (Psalm 100:3)
You are a heavily protected and directed person. Why? The Lord is your shepherd. The Psalmist caught hold of what the import of the Lord as our shepherd meant and concluded that there’s nothing he’d ever need. In the Message translation of Psalm 23:1, David said, “God, my shepherd! I don’t need a thing.” In other words, He had come into an understanding of His sufficiency as a God-sufficiency. If God doesn’t lack anything then as one, in His care, there’s nothing I should ever need.
But there’s more. Being the sheep of Christ’s pasture means that the Holy Spirit is responsible for guiding you and your life decisions. This means that your life ought to be free of erroneous decisions. Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
However, the chief means by which the Holy Spirit leads you is through your spirit. He doesn’t always use outward signs or respond to the fleeces that you put out so it matters that you know how to be guided by Him through your spirit. Proverbs 20:27 says, “The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart.”
The One that is in you teaches you everything. 1 John 2:27 NLT says, “But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.”
He will show you what’s next in God’s plan for you. John 16:13 says, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” As your shepherd, the Holy Spirit will lead you to make profit. Isaiah 48:17 says, “Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.”
Also, He is the trusted voice in your heart when you get to the fork in the road, requiring you to make the right choices. “And though the Lord gives you The bread of adversity and the water of affliction, Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, But your eyes shall see your teachers. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left” (Isaiah 30: 20-21). Jesus said, “Yet they [the sheep] will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
Understanding that your role as the sheep of His pasture is to trust Him absolutely stems from the truth that as your shepherd, He would rather die than to see you fail. In John 10:14-15, Jesus says, “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.” Indeed, this was why Jesus came and died. Isaiah 53:6 says, “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Because He carried our iniquity, we have His righteousness. Righteousness means error-free living.
So declare this now: I am the sheep of Christ’s pasture. Therefore, I live free of errors.
Have a glorious day.
Faith-Filled Confession
The Lord is my shepherd as I am the sheep of His pasture. I lack nothing. I am protected, provided for and directed so that I only have accurate and excellent results as one led by God. Hallelujah!
