“...and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelations 1:5-6)
Two different things happen to believers that are often mixed up, making them believe wrong about themselves and their real identity and capacity. So pay close attention. The first is redemption or salvation. Christians are not saved. For the lack of better descriptors, the Christian, while he or she was still a sinner, was saved. Romans 5: 8-9 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” Therefore, it was the sinner that was saved.
The Christian is not a sinner, never was and never will be. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” This new creation has no past which is why there is a special call to action; to behold that all things in the new life in Christ are new.
For starters, the new life is incapable of committing sin. 1 John 3:9 says, “Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.” If you still struggle with sin, you haven’t yet beheld this new life, in which all things have become new.
John 1:11-13 says, “He [the Word] came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Think about it for a few seconds: if the new life the Christian has is the very life of God, what exactly is he or she saved from? Can God the Father be saved or delivered from anything? No. Then, God the children were not and do not need to be saved or delivered from anything.
Wait! Did Pastor just call me God? Yes, I did. And how you react will say one of two things because when Jesus said the same thing, it generated one of those reactions. In John 10:30-31, the Bible says that Jesus said, “I and My Father are one.” Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.” Jesus' response to his would-be assailants was very telling about who you should be to your world. He said, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?” (John 10:32). If you have beheld the new life, you should be showing the world miracles from your Father. The issue is, many Christians who ought to be performing miracles will be the first to attack or misunderstand the message of their divinity. They are the ones who make a caricature of the Christian with cliches like, “I am a sinner saved by grace.”The problem with their assertion is that that person died with Jesus at Calvary and they still have not embraced the newness of the life they now have.
Now, this is where your role as a priest and a king comes from. The new man in Christ is first a priest in the temple of God. Where is God’s temple? 1 Corinthians 3:16 says, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” So when you start speaking in tongues about a matter, you are consulting with God as His priest on the matter and I will show you how before the end of this devotional. Afterwards, as you come to a conclusion of your consultation with the Lord, He will release a word about the matter through your lips, and then your role as a king will kick in, to effect the necessary change. Ecclesiastes 8:4 says, “Where the word of a king is, there is power; And who may say to him, “What are you doing?”
This is the role of the Christian in your personal life, family and the world at large. You can resolve any issue whatsoever, using your priest-king role through the Holy Spirit in you.
There should never be a point in your life when a hopeless situation makes you perturbed. Now, here’s how to do it: Simply take the written word about the situation you want to change with you into the temple of God. Hosea the Prophet says, “Take words with you, And return to the LORD. Say to Him, “Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips” (Hosea 14:2). Maybe you want to get off food stamps and government assistance this year and be as prosperous as God ordained you to be. Take Ephesians 4:28 into the temple of your heart. Then, offer those words by speaking them in tongues to the Lord concerning the situation–in this case, the structural unemployment– you want to change. Finally, pray in tongues until prophetic words start proceeding out of your mouth. Once the prophetic words come forth, the change is executed and you can go ahead and rejoice.
Do not concern yourself with anything else because the material world will start to conform to the word that God spoke through your lips. That’s how it is done.
Have a great day!
Faith-Filled Confession
I am a priest-king to my God and in this world. I occupy–by my priestly and kingly ministries –until the Lord returns, knowing that a reward awaits me for faithfully discharging the responsibilities of these two offices. In Jesus’ name. Amen
