Welcome to 2025, the Year of Joy

Grace Daily Devotional

1/2/2024

“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:24)

Happy New Year! The Lord has ushered us into a very special year that I will be unpacking over the next few days. The very important thing to note about 2025 is that it is a different year, requiring that you pay attention to the Word, and the move of the Holy Spirit. This year, the overarching theme, the end-goal of the Father for you is JOY; the joy,  aptly described in 1 Peter 1:8 as  “joy inexpressible and full of glory.”

This end-goal of JOY that Lord has for you in 2025 might be likened to a tree with many fruits. For some, Joy will mean Headship. Deuteronomy 28:13 says, “And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.” You will be above only in every aspect of your life. There will be supernatural correction of positionings for some. For others, the Lord will give you a headstart such that you would be ahead of your contemporaries.

Still, for others, the Year of Joy will manifest as a year of overflow and abundance. Psalm 65:11 says, “You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance.” These ones will experience a surge of more-than-enough in resources, people and finances.

Another expression of this Year of Joy will be the experience of Peace on every side. In Joshua 21:44, the Bible says, “The LORD gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.” The things you grappled with in the previous year, financially or healthwise will succumb to the peace that this Joy produces.

Next, the Year of Joy will be the year of turnaround where, supernaturally, God turns things around for your good. Psalm 126:1-2 says, “When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

For some still, the Year of Joy will be a year of settlement and establishment where you are settled like a rock. Nothing moves or perturbs you because the Lord Himself has settled you. He says, “...I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it…” (Revelations 3:8).

Another branch of the Year of Joy is unimaginable progress. Joshua 3:7 says, “And the LORD said to Joshua, “This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.” The Lord will magnify you in the sight of all those who have despised you up until 2024. He will prove to people in your family, workplace and at your school that He is with you.

Another iteration of the Year of Joy is that it will be a year of restoration and recovery for some of us. 1 Samuel 30:8 says,”So David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” There will be restoration and recovery of lost opportunities, time and fortunes in 2025. It is that year, when for some, the Lord will ask you to go back and reclaim things and opportunities you thought were lost forever. There will be celebrations of different kinds in 2025.

Still the Year of Joy will be a year of Expansion (according to Isaiah 54:3); a Year of Promotion (according to Psalm 75:6-7) and a Year of Favor (according to Psalm 102:13).

But here is the clincher as to why this year is different. First of all, we have received a Year in which there is a diversity of fruits.  In John 16:24 AMPC, the Bible says, “Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name [as presenting all that I Am]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.“ In other words, this year is like an eat-all-you-can sort of year. He says, ask and keep asking. In other words, collect and keep collecting until your joy is full and complete. If there is one thing you get, the Year of Joy is a year that God has earmarked for you to “...be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” (James 1:4)

Hear me, the testimony that God will give some of you this 2025 will be that you lacked nothing and that you lived in the absolute state of God-sufficiency.

That said, have a wonderful year. Your Year of JOY.

God bless you.
