“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” (2 Corinthians 4:6-7)
The Holy Spirit’s presence in you is the light in a dark place. He is God’s treasure in the hollow of your physical body for a particular reason. The Bible says that “...God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” What does this mean? In Genesis 1:1-2, the Bible tells us that “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness wason the face of the deep....” The earth that God made became a chaotic mass. Hear me, the bad things that have happened in your life did not happen so that you could wallow in defeat. Bad things happen to good people.
The earth becoming void with darkness covering the entire planet was a chaotic moment in time. It was like hearing that the baby one carried for nine months, with high hopes of a great life, was born with autism or down syndrome. Maybe, you had started a business with a lot of prospects but now, one policy or bad actor has wiped out the business. Don’t cry. And don’t cry to God either.
Rather, do what the Father did. Genesis 1:2-3 says, “... And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters, Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” The equivalent of the Spirit of God hovering over your hopeless situation is you taking out the related scriptures that address the situation, meditating on these scriptures, and then, launching out in tongues. 1 Corinthians 14:2 says, “For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.” This is why you cannot NOT speak in tongues.
Speaking in tongues is what will lead you to the wisdom of God–the exact words– that you ought to speak concerning the autistic child, the business situation, or the marriage crisis. Understand that if God faced the challenges that you are facing in your life, all He would do is hover over the situation until He starts speaking words to repair the situation. This is what you too must do as His child. 1 Corinthians 2:6-7 says, “However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory.” The words that you ought to speak about the hopeless situation by which you are confronted, are hidden but predestined for your glory.
You have got to command the wisdom out of hiding, out of your earthen vessel. 1 Corinthians 2:12-13 says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
But here is how, pray in tongues until you start prophesying. 1 Corinthians 14:13-15 sums it all up. It says, “Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.”
You pray and don’t stop praying until comprehensible words from within begin to emerge from within you. Even if it takes you several days to reach the threshold, speak in tongues until…Those words that you eventually speak from the Holy Spirit, the Bible calls the light. “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:5)
That’s the light you ought to use against every adversity.
Use it and have a blessed day.
Faith-Filled Confession
I take advantage of the presence of the Holy Spirit in me to speak Spirit-powered words that alter and repair my world. No darkness is beyond my ability to bring out light because of the Holy Spirit in me. Hallelujah!
