THE LIFE IN CHRIST: WORD FOR WORD

Grace Daily Devotional

12/12/2024

“He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him— the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.” (John 12:48-49)

The man and woman in Christ are not originals. Rather, they are derivatives. By derivative, I mean that the Christian is a copy of Jesus in the same way that Jesus is a copy of God. The Bible says, “He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation” (Colossians 1:15) . Hebrews 1:3 NIV says, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”

But then, the Bible says that as Jesus is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17). It’s not a promise. It’s not a guess but a present hour reality. Being born again makes you the exact representation of Jesus being.

But what does this all mean? It means that projecting Jesus is our life’s greatest purpose. To live at your highest possible expression is to say and do exactly the things that Jesus would, given your circumstances and context.

It would mean to live, in every sense, word for word, as though Jesus was living your life because He is.

To fully operationalize this life in Christ, you’d have to develop an addiction for the (rhema) word of God. It is this rhema that Jesus refers to when He says, “…It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”(Matthew 4:4). The rhema is a word that God is speaking to you in a contemporary context through a scripture reading, prophetic utterance, sermon, interpretation of tongues or scriptural meditation. It is, what we may call, the “now-word of God.”

To live the life of God successfully and be Jesus’ exact representation, you have to live based on this “now-word of God” every day. This implies that you are going to have to be deliberate about putting yourself in a position to hear the now-word in study, fasting, prayer and meditation.

This life we have is absolutely victorious and indestructible, particularly when you know how it functions. Go for the now-word and when you get it, live it out, word for word.

Have a fantastic day.

Faith-Filled Confession

As the Father has life in Himself, so has He given to me to His life in me. I have the life of God in me now. Therefore, I have overcome the world and its distractions. I have overcome the world and its deception. I have overcome the world and its traps and snares. Hallelujah!
