THE LIFE IN CHRIST: A LIFE THAT SHOULD NOT DIE

Grace Daily Devotional

11/30/2024

"Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

The Christian has a life that should never die. The emphasis of Jesus wasn't only spiritual as many have supposed. He wasn't only referring to spiritual death.  How do we know this? Lazarus had died physically and Jesus had come to raise him up. Now, the Lord left us an important key in John 11:26: "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

The unregenerate individual has seventy or eighty years and at best, 120 years. Originally, after Adam's fall, God gave humanity 120 years. Nevertheless,  Moses, who lived to be 120 years old, observed that  people lived to be seven or eighty. "As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is only trouble and tragedy; For it quickly passes, and we disappear" (Psalm 90:10)

However, for the new creation in Christ, there is no lifespan. You can live for as long as you choose. In Philippians 1:21-22, the Bible says, "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell." The Christian can choose to continue living on to bear fruit from laboring in the gospel.

Now, while many may not enter into the essence of this message, immortality is part of your right in Christ. The Bible says, " The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. For “He has put all things under His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him,” it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted." If death is an enemy that Jesus is excepted from and as He is, so are you in this world (according to 1 John 4:17), dying to the man or woman in Christ becomes a choice.

Hear me, the Bible says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit" (Proverbs 18:21). To you, death and life are choices, which is why I charge you today to refuse to die, particularly if your work here is not complete. And, if you haven't even begun to prosecute your life's call here on earth, I want you to know that you can start today. Moses began his ministry at 80 years old and so time is not a defining factor. What's important is that you start out on your course and choose to see through the completion of God's assignment on your life.

Understand that your immortality is in your mouth. Use it to bring glory to the King.

Have a great day.

Faith-Filled Confession

I live the God-life. I think, talk and act in conformity to the life that pulsates beneath my chest, knowing that as the Father has life in Himself, so do I. Glory!
