THE LIFE IN CHRIST: A LIFE OF PUTTING ON CHRIST

Grace Daily Devotional

12/23/2024

For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ." (Galatians 3:27)

To "put on," in New Testament language means to attain a consciousness of a truth through confessions. In Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV, the Bible says, "You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

To "put off" is the opposite of "putting on." For example, you can  "put off" your earthly nativity because it is now a stumbling block to the God-life by making confessions to the effect.   You cannot say you come from Dayton or Cincinnati or Chicago because you don't, as long as you are born-again. People who are born again come from heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." The scriptures say, "...he [ or she] is a new creation..." Therefore, the man or woman in Christ has no earthly  past, no earthly genealogy and no earthly heritage after he or she is born again.

But I digress. When you "put on" in the life of the new creation,  you are. taking on a Christ-consciousness through confessions. In Colossians 3:10, the Bible says, "...and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him." It means that you make confessions based on the knowledge of God's word in Christ. For example, the Bible says, to you that are in Christ "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Phillippians 4:6). This means that you ought to constantly put off anxiety and put on a commitment to prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving by making a confession.

An illustration of this would be: "I refuse to be anxious in this [name the situation]. Instead, I respond by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. The Lord hears my request and the peace of God garrisons my heart. Hallelujah!" This is how to "put off" and "put on."

Understand that this operation is based on the principle of God's Word, found in Romans 10:6-8: "But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach)." The reality is in your mouth. When you release words, you can put off or put on a consciousness in Christ.

Therefore, refuse to be quiet today! Put on the whole armour of God. Put on the new self, declaring that as Jesus is, so are you in this world. Put on strength, put on holiness and victory as you ride along with the Lord today.

I hear the Lord say that today is your day of financial harvests; a day of miracles. Now put that on...Hallelujah!

Have a great day.

Faith-Filled Confession

As the Father has life in Himself, so has He given to me to have His life in myself. I have the life of God in me now. Therefore, I walk in financial miracles today. I have victory, prosperity and progress. I am protected and the rhema word of God is in my mouth.  I am who God says I am. I have what God says I have. And I can do what God says I can do. Hallelujah!
