And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:32)
The life in Christ is a life of love. And it is a love like God loves, boundless and unconditional. This capacity to love was domiciled in your heart when you were born again. The Bible says about us: "Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us." Your heart is full of the love of God and this is why God expects you to unleash His love in your heart on everyone with whom you come into contact, exactly the way He would.
Hear me, God's love is a giving love. The Bible says that "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). This is why it is natural for us to give off our time, money and presence to those we love.
His love in our hearts is a forgiving type of love, which is why Ephesians 4:32 says to "...be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32). The capacity to forgive like God the Father resides in your heart. How does God forgive? He says, "... I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more" (Hebrews 8:12).
He is a God that forgives and forgets and you have this exact capacity too. Has someone hurt you deeply or made you feel perplexed? The Bible says to pray. Speak in tongues about the situation and not against the offender until the love of God bubbles upwards from your heart and engulfs the situation. James 5:13 AMPC says, "Is anyone among you afflicted (ill-treated, suffering evil)? He should pray. Is anyone glad at heart? He should sing praise [to God]."
Understand that the life that is in you is the life of God and because no one can successfully hurt God, no one can successfully hurt you. But I hear someone say that some people are vicious. What do I do when they attack me?
Do these three things. Count it all joy. James 1:2 says, "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials." Secondly, give thanks to God concerning the attack. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "...in everything [including vicious attacks] give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." Lastly, do something nice for the attacker and this could range from prayer to gift giving. "Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:20-21).
Our life in Christ is a life of love.
Have a great day
