“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
The best gifts are born out of love. Why? Love is giving. You can give without loving but you can’t love without giving because love is about attaching worth to a person, place or activity. Giving without loving happens when a person is unable to attach accurate worth to the recipient of their gift. And so, they give out of ego which is a false estimation of themselves. The love that gives accurately estimates the recipient as worthy of the gift. And love, when in action, rarely makes sense. Love is the basis for why you give your time, money and efforts to the things you do.
Your attaching worth to God should be why you spend hours praying and studying your Bible, every day. And this should say a lot about your love for the Master, if you do not devote as much time, effort and money to your relationship with Him.
Love looks beyond the contemporary to the actual. The Bible says, the world that God so loved was a world of sinners. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The gift was to the one that seemingly didn’t merit it because love is about attaching true worth to a person, thing or place.
So, it’s time to introspect today. What are the things you attach worth too? Where do you spend the most time, effort and money in your life? You know you can give with loving but you can’t love without giving and we have the Lord’s warning to the Church at Ephesus as a guide to do this reevaluation. “To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.” (Revelations 2:1-4).
They didn’t have a giving issue at Ephesus, they had a worth issue. They had decoupled their actions from their revelation of who they were doing it for. Do you just pray because we call prayers every morning and you absent-mindedly speak in tongues until the meeting ends? It’s time to return to your first love. It is time to return to your first works. It is time to attach worth again to those meetings, to studying your Bible, and to personal prayer.
Love is giving, yes. But it begins with the accurate estimation of the one you love. Contemplate your love for the Lord today and make the necessary fixes where required.

Pray for those whom Satan is stirring off the course of their calling in Christ through various temptations and trials.
Pray that their faith fail not, that they be strengthened by the Spirit in their inner man, triumphing by the Word sown in their hearts, & their faith prevails in all circumstances.
Exodus 23:26
“No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.”
