"And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” (Hebrews 12:5-6)
Correction is a gift from God. Proverbs 29:15 says, "The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother." The Lord channels correction to His kids through many means. He may correct you via His word from the pages of scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness..." So as you study God's word or listen to a message in church, the Lord can bring an error to light that you need to address.
Another way the Lord may rebuke you is through your leaders or brethren. Galatians 6:1 says, "Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted." When you get rebuked by your pastor, a brother or a sister, cherish it as though it is from the Lord.
Also, the Spirit of God may rebuke you directly by convicting you of an error. And in so doing, He may also prompt you in your conscience to get you to repent. The Holy Spirit may also rebuke you through His ministers by revealing something that needs correcting to them.
Proverbs 9:8 says, "Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hates you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you." The important thing is not how correction comes, Child of God but how you respond to correction. Hebrews 12:7-8 says, "If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons."
If God gives you the blessing of correction, cherish it.
Faith-Filled Confession
I am a child of God and because I am God's child, I am corrected by the Lord from time to time. I cherish correction, however the channels by which it comes to me. Hallelujah!
