BE STEADFAST IN LOVE

Grace Daily Devotional

2/14/2025

“Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body” (Hebrews 13:1-3)

One of the greatest weapons you have at your disposal is the love of God in you. Notice that I said the love of God in you, not the love of God for you. God loves you eternally; He also gave you His nature of love. When you understand this weapon of love that the bible says was shared abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5), your everyday life will become heaven on earth. 1 John 5:4 says that we are overcomers of this world because of faith. The very day you got born again, the world, and its systems were put under your control by Jesus Christ. But for you to experience dominion over this world, you must walk in UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. That you have victory and dominion over sin, sickness and, every demon hatched out of hell does not guarantee that your everyday life will reflect that reality. Galatians 5:6 tells us that faith needs love for it to be operational.  It takes you walking in unconditional love for your spiritual reality to become your physical experience.

Hebrews 13:1 says “Let brotherly love continue…” Or one could also say, “Be steadfast in love.”  Why is this a big deal? The Spirit has called us to steadfastness in love because it is possible for one’s love to wax cold. Matthew 24:12 says, “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.” And an example of such wickedness that will cause the love of many to grow cold is the greed, abuse, and misuse of kingdom prosperity that we see in the body of Christ today. That notwithstanding, we must not cease to give because others have abused their authority. Another example is with relationships. Just because you showed love to someone and were made to look like a fool should not cause you to shut the door to every relationship. Instead, it should make you become even more tenacious about walking in love. Remember that God will not hold you accountable for how others have treated you; He will only hold you accountable for how you responded to their unfair treatment.

In Paul’s prayer for the church in Ephesus, he prayed that they will be rooted and grounded in love; not just for a season, but as a way of life. Then he prayed that they may come “…to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that (they) may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” In other words, their experience of the fullness of God was predicated on them knowing the love of Christ.

Child of God, your steadfastness in love is your surest way to live in the fullness of all that God has for you. My prayer for you today is that you will abound in love more and more and you will gain insight into the mystery of the love of Christ that is in you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Faith Filled Confession:

I am born of God and therefore, I am born of love. I have the nature of love because I have the nature of God. I demonstrate God’s love to everyone. I refuse to be easily offended. I forgive quickly and completely because of the ability of Christ working in me.
