A NEW WAY OF LIFE

Grace Daily Devotional

11/8/2024

"Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4).

We must see ourselves in the same light that God sees us. Jesus paid the greatest price for us to live in victory, and we cannot be ignorant of that. The life He gave to us is a life of freedom and liberty. It is a life of boundless possibilities and abilities characterized by the influence of the Holy Spirit. It is a life of glory, unending victories, and dominion. See, when you got born again, you were not merely refurbished or covered with a new coating of paint, leaving the old nature intact. NO! NO! NO! The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "...if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." When you received Jesus to be Lord and Savior, the old nature died, and you were raised up, a new supernatural being, with the life, nature, and ability of God. Glory to God!

Mentally agreeing that you have this life is not enough; you must also learn to walk in it. No longer can we who are saved continue to live like the people of the world, bound to do the biddings of satan and the flesh. The Bible says in Galatians 5:1 AMP, "It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed]." At salvation, you were severed from everything that does not have its origin in God—sin, ungodly habits, lack, depression, sickness, and disease.  And now that you are in Christ, it is your duty to enforce what has already been done on your behalf. The redemptive work of Christ is complete; you must now walk in the fruition of this new life that you have. Romans 6:4 tells us that "… we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so, we also should walk in newness of life." In other words, there is a new life that we ought to be about. It is a life of freedom and liberty in Christ Jesus. It is a life of vitality, health, dominion, power, and unending victories and testimonies. It is a life devoted to serving God and doing His will. Colossians 3:9-10 says, "… you've gotten rid of the person you used to be and the life you used to live, and you've become a new person. This new person is continually renewed in knowledge to be like its Creator."

The key to living and walking in this newness of life is a working knowledge of God's Word. Saints, there is no substitute for God's Word. The Word of God is the ultimate tool for the believer's victory and success. Without the Word, there cannot be growth and transformation. And the result will be a malnourished Christian, whose life has the handwriting of the devil all over it, exhibiting the same carnal attributes as one who is not saved. Such a person will harbor unforgiveness, be easily angered, and debate how far they can indulge in unrighteousness. Romans 12:2 tells us to "…not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…" And God's Word is the tool to educate your mind on the new realities of who you are, what you have, and what you can do in Christ Jesus. Just as a new product comes with a manual, so also, this new life that you have received has a manual called THE BIBLE. Take time to study the Bible for yourself. It will expose you to a world of possibilities and a life of liberty and victory in Christ Jesus.

God bless you!

Faith-Filled Confession:

I have received a new life in Jesus Christ. Therefore, I am free from sin, sickness, and the elements of this world. I give myself to be molded and nurtured by God's Word even as I exercise my dominion over the flesh and the world's systems.  In Jesus' name. Amen.

Prayer Direction

"Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain" (1 Corinthians 15:58).

  1. Pray that God’s people will remain steadfast, fervent and unmovable in the face of contrary wind and storm.

  2. Pray that they will advance and blossom in all of God’s will concerning them.

  3. Pray that our church will experience a prolific growth and expansion this month. That the brethren will run with the vision like never before. That through them, the kingdom of God will increase.
