A LIFE OF RECEIVING

Grace Daily Devotional

10/10/2024

"And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:7-8)

A critical assignment that we have from the Lord is to ensure that He finds faith on the earth upon His return. And one of the things that is demonstrative of faith is our disposition to God as a Father, Provider and Benefactor. The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." In other words, you ought to always take the matters of your life to the Lord in prayer. However, the conditioning that the prince of this world has been programming into the social consciousness, even with an increased intensity in these last days, is a form of self-reliance that is anti-God. Something makes certain believers anxious or in doubt, and instead of taking it to the Lord in continued prayer, they go to Google or JP Morgan or LA Fitness. The Bible says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Phillippians 4:6). Hear me, Saint, take the matter to the Lord in prayer first and let Him be the one to send you to Google, or the credit union or the gym.

See, you were not born again to live a life of defeat. When you became a Christian you became backed by the full faith and commonwealth of God Himself. But how can you enjoy His faith and backing if you do not acknowledge His presence in your life, moment by moment? The life of faith that you ought to live is a life of receiving. John 3:27 says, "...A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven." 1 Corinthians 4:7 says, "For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?" And James 4:2 says, "You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask."

What does this all mean? The Lord is saying, you ought to defer to Him in every aspect of your life by asking Him about the matters of your life first before making decisions. The victorious life of faith is lived by receiving the plans, solutions, strategies, instructions and calibrations from God first, before doing anything else.

Saint, you have been called to receive from God and this begins at the place acknowledging at all times that He is, and that He is a benefactor to those who diligently pursue Him. Psalm 68:19 says, "Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah." You are God's benefit-child, so rather than allow anything to make you anxious or in doubt, go to God in prayer and receive some benefits.

Have a swell day. God bless you.
